When I looked at my website and noticed that I didn’t blog at all in 2011, I figured it was time for a change. I will be completely re-doing my website from top to bottom. I’m working to include a portfolio section, better mobile access, and hopefully a more up-to-date blog. Please come back soon to check for updates.
What I’ve been shooting…
Well, as you can see…I haven’t been the most active blogger you’ve ever seen…and I can’t imagine it’s going to get drastically better anytime soon. However, I will try and post a few things here and there to show you what I’ve been shooting, or maybe a new tip or trick I’ve found along the way.
As for now, I’ll give you a glimpse of what I’ve been shooting since I last posted.
A little sports…

Family…

I don’t normally photograph babies, it’s not, and probably won’t ever, be my particular focus in photography, but I did for a friend the other day and here are a couple of my favorites.

and last but not least, my favorite thing to shoot of them all…weddings!

That’s all for now. Thanks for visiting.
Bikes on the Bricks in Downtown Flint
This past Friday night, I headed downtown with my camera for the Bikes on the Bricks event. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I thought I’d go anyway and check it out. The plan for Friday was for the bikes to line up at 6:30pm and take a ride around Flint. They went from downtown Flint over to Flushing, down to Swartz Creek, and back downtown. There were a TON of bikes. I asked a lady at the registration booth how many riders registered for the cruise, she said “a lot”, then checked how many bracelet’s they had given out, and she said there was probably about 600. On top of that there were other riders that didn’t go on the cruise. I’d say there were between 700-800 bikes around the city when I was there. Motorcycle police from many counties and cities in the surrounding areas were there as well.
Well…enjoy.

Swartz Creek Football
Tess and I went to Swartz Creek’s homecoming game last Friday, and of course, I took my camera with me… 1) I try to take it everywhere 2) Mr. Tommy Bentley, my second cousin once removed, or something like that, plays on the team so I was hoping to catch a couple good shots of him for his parents.
Let me tell you, I am a big fan of shooting football while they’re playing under the lights. The light is so cool…and I love the shadows you get. However, I need to upgrade to a fixed f2.8 telephoto lens to be better equipped to shoot it. I had to bump the iso up to 6400, but on the other hand, I was pretty impressed with how my D90 did with the iso that high. (Sorry for all that technical jargon)
Well, they won their game, and I was pretty happy with a couple of the shots I got. Enjoy!

Phone Test
Riding in the BMW with the top down on a sunny day, registering for wedding stuff, and riding the Raptor…
ahhh good times.
Hello world!
Hello world…again…
I have always been quite interested in blogging and I have tried it quite a few times, but I never seem to stick with it. I don’t know if it’s just the fact that it’s easy…but it always seems like it takes to much work…or maybe that I don’t feel like I have that many interesting things to share with the world…whatever it is…it needs to change. So, I’ve decided to try my luck with WordPress…and I tell you what…I’m really really liking it. I am really digging how easy it was to set it up with my own domain. I’ve had scottjrider.com for quite a while, but I’ve never been impressed with what I used it for. However, I think that’s going to change now. I can use it for blogging, tech work stuff, photography, etc… all within WordPress. I was also very excited to see that WordPress has developed a BlackBerry app, and I can easily work on my site while I’m on the go.
Well, look for updates and changes…as much as I would like to say “soon”…we’ll have to just wait and see how that goes.
Thanks for visiting.
